MIDTERM #3

MIDTERM #3

This is the first step in MIDTERM EXERCISE #3. The first image is the original .tif image. For the second image I wrote my name using GIMP and saved it as a .tif to demonstrate the quality in the original file format. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.

This is the second step in MIDTERM EXERCISE #3. I converted the image to JPEG format (.jpg) at a quality level of 85. This reduced the file size from 122.3 kB (as a .jpg at quality level 100) to only 32.4 kB, while maintaining comparable image quality. Also, by checking the option "Progressive" when converting the image file format, the browser downloads the image in waves which gives the appearance of downloading faster. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.

This is the third step in MIDTERM EXERCISE #3. I converted the image to .gif format, as well as selecting the "Interlaced" option so that the browser downloads the image in waves to give the appearance of downloading faster. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.

This is the final step in MIDTERM EXERCISE #3. I converted the image to .png format at a compression level of 2. This reduced the file size while maintaining comparable image quality. Also, by checking the option "Interlacing (Adam 7)" when converting the image file format, the browser downloads the image in waves which gives the appearance of downloading faster. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.
